Job Description


The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Water Resources Engineer/EIT for a full-time position based in the London, ON office. While work from the London office is preferred, accommodations to work out of AECOM’s Kitchener, Mississauga, Markham and other offices remains a possibility, and we encourage interested and qualified candidates throughout Ontario to apply.

The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting water resources projects that include stormwater and watershed management and modelling, environmental assessments, hydrology, hydraulics, stream rehabilitation / natural channel design, in-field assessments and monitoring. Skills you will likely use or develop in this job include project and time management, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, water quality and quantity monitoring, data analysis, and report / proposal writing all in a friendly, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment at AECOM. This role offers the right candidate the potential for a fast upward career progression within AECOM, with a clear path to succession within our growing group of technical, project management and business development professionals.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working directly with the group manager, project engineers, hydrotechnical designer, senior modelers, fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists, less experienced and support staff on projects related to Water Resources, mostly within Ontario
  • Responsibility for various project aspects, including communicating with clients, attending and participating in meetings, project management, completing technical analysis and reviews, preparing reports and proposals, conceptual / preliminary and detailed designs of stormwater management infrastructure
  • Developing technical engineered solutions for surface water projects including erosion and scour protection, stormwater management, and flood mitigation
  • Designing surface water management infrastructure from feasibility level to construction documentation including detailed design, tender documentation


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Knowledge of water resources policies and practices in Ontario
  • Experience with various water resources modeling programs e.g. HEC-RAS, SWMM, SWMHYMO, VISUAL OTTHYMO, InfoWorks, etc
  • Experience in proposal preparation including determining work scope, preparing time task breakdowns and preparing text sections on technical approach, team and project experience, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Registered as EIT or ability to become registered within 6-12months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in water resources
  • Registered as a P.Eng with the PEO
  • Ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively and work closely with others in a team setting is essential
  • Strong computer skills including advanced working knowledge of GIS, hydrologic and/or hydraulic modeling software, MS Word and Excel
  • Must possess excellent organizational, communication and writing skills
