Job Description
We are hiring a summer intern to support the development of digital material for the Heart, Lung and Vascular (HLV) Program. This internship is being offered to a 3rd or 4th year college or university student. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, be highly creative and able to translate written material and concepts created by our clinical teams into visually appealing, easy to navigate web content. The Intern will gain valuable experience to support their professional growth, develop marketable skills and learn about digital media in the healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team. This paid internship will run for a period of approximately 14-weeks during which time you will be assigned to specific projects and tasks, and will be required to present deliverables to the program’s leadership team.
As the summer student intern, you will report to the Senior Clinical Program Director of the Heart, Lung and Vascular (HLV) Program. Your primary responsibilities will include performing various digital marketing and communication duties while serving as a vital link between the HLV Program and Unity Health Toronto’s (UHT) Media Relations team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create social media content using information gathered from the Heart, Lung, and Vascular (HLV) program.
- Collaborate with the HLV team to ensure the accuracy of posted information, with all content receiving approval before publication.
- Develop and execute website solutions with the media team.
- Conduct market research with UHT staff and colleagues.
- Assist with media-related tasks as required by the HLV program.
- Help create digital media solutions to promote products and services within the HLV Program.
- Edit and format written material as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Media & Communications or Marketing program at an accredited college or university.
- Possess strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, producing accurate work with efficient turnaround time.
- Exercise a high degree of professionalism and communication with confidential information
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking.
- Strong communication skills with a proven track record of interacting effectively with others.
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Displays commitment to and understanding of the Mission and Values of St. Michael's Hospital.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
