Job Description

At Ryerson we take pride in being an industry leader in metals processing & distribution. Since 1842, it has been our mission to provide our customers and communities with the absolute best in carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel and more!

Metal is everywhere and in your everyday life! Metal is the most essential and sustainable material on the planet and will ALWAYS be needed. As a member of the Ryerson Family, you will help provide metal to industries that make everything from high-octane sports cars & trucks to futuristic electric vehicles; sports stadiums & arenas to luxury hotels; first responder equipment to military & aerospace technology; props used on movie sets to the phone you're probably using to apply to this role; and so much more!

We are looking for an Administrative Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2023. This exciting opportunity is a great fit for you if:

  • You’re wanting to be a part of a company that is focused on building the future using the most essential & infinitely recyclable material on the planet: metal.
  • You like to ask questions and find solutions to problems
  • You want to make an immediate impact with an industry leading company
  • You’re creative and you know how to share your ideas with contagious energy
  • You are not complacent – you have an urge to make the most of your time and anything you set your mind to!

We want to show you what the metals industry has to offer you for your career post-college. For 10 weeks during the summer, you will be shown all functional parts of our business, including sales, administration, operations, and meet a variety of the people that make things happen at Ryerson. As an intern you will take ownership of a special project(s) that directly impacts the business. This is your chance to apply your knowledge and creativity and make a real impact.

Here is what an Administrative Intern’s Day-in-the-life will look like:

  • You consider yourself a team player and want to fully immerse yourself with our family here at Ryerson. You’re going to learn about our proud history, what we do, our culture, and our plans for the future!
  • Your social media savviness is going to pay off! You will do market research and identify potential relationships for Ryerson using marketing, social media, online research, surveys, track & report data, and share with members of the sales / operations team(s).
  • Look at our inventory to understand how it works. Find & identify our biggest needs and improvements with some of our existing accounts.
  • Complete various administrative tasks such as scanning test certificates and filling work orders as well as providing reception duties and data entry.
  • Guidance and additional projects as assigned by leadership

Basic Qualifications:
