We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Social Media and Community Outreach Specialist as part of our
Canada Summer Jobs Program
The Social Media and Community Outeach Specialist will be responsible for providing support and leading the
Student and Family Advocate, Community of Practice program (SFA COP). This position will serve as a key administrative support, point of contact, as well as analysis and writer for the SFA COP project and reports. The role will be lead the planning and execution of the annual SFA COP conference and SFA COP general collaboration and initiatives. The Social Media and Outreach Specialist will also be responsible for facilitating community engagement opportunities, strategic partnership opportunities with PoBC chapters and an opportunity to colloborate with community based partners. As well, the social media and community outreach Specialist will be responsible for content creation and development and management of all PoBC social media channels and assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Media content creation and management:
● Develop and create content PoBC social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube, LinkedIn, ensuring content is tailored to optimize algorithms of each platform
● Analyze the need for and develop new social media presence for the organization on varying platforms
● Develop channel-specific videos and visuals such as Instagram stories & reels,
Facebook video ads, and YouTube pre-roll for paid Instagram giphys and organic posts
● Assess and manage PoBC maid social media presence
● Work collaboratively with members of PoBC strategic and advoacy teas to develop program specific social media content for social platforms
● Build and evaluate community engagement with PoBC by helping respond to social
media comments & inquiries as well as program specific social media followers through social listening, monitoring of notifications and interacting
● Participate in cross-organizational planning meetings for organizational campaigns and initiatives, sharing ideas and contributing to the development of social media strategies and calendar content
● Create and record monthly analytics and insights reports for paid and organic social media
● Research recent social trends,, content from other organizations, etc.
● Develop and enhance PoBCs digital presence/content
● Liase as needed to brainstorm blog topics and produce written blogs for PoBC and the
Student and Family Advocate website .
● Create, edit, update, post and evaluate engaging and compelling digital content to publish across
PoBC’s digital (Website) and social media channels
● Create and execute on a content calendar that identifies opportunities for engagement and visibility and that supports organizational communications, marketing and fundraising objectives
● Monitor PoBC’s social media presence and accounts both for corporate initiatives and development/fundraising
● Evaluate, analyze and compile reports on data analytics across all social media and web platforms monthly
Outreach responsibilities:
· Build and maintain positive relationships with related associations, industry stakeholders and government contacts and organizations
· Work to create and maintain stakeholder mapping list and contacts across Canada
· Lead and implement PoBC’s outreach plan
· Management of PoBC’s chapters and Black Parent Council groups - point of contact for groups as well as conceptualize and faciiate creation of chapters and groups
· Working collaboratively to support the leadership and planning of Townhalls across Ontario/Canada
· Management of the Student and Family Advocate Community of Practice (SFA COP) o Manage and respond to organizational emails related to the SFA COP initiative o Coordinating meetings and workshops o Managing the SFA COP Collaboration Platform o Plan and coordinate SFA COP annual conference and annual report o Manage reporting and all funding requirements related to outcomes for the SFA COP o Performs special projects and other duties as assigned o Lead the creation and analysis of evaluations for the SFA COP community o Lead the creation of presentation and management of monthly meetings as well as the annual conference and report o Maintain current policy and subject matter knowledge of PoBC’s priority issues points of advocacy - particularly as they relate to the SFA COP

This role is part of the Canada Summer Jobs Initiaives.
Employment Details:
● 8 week contract (with possibility of extension based on performance)
● $30/hour
● 35 hours per week
Applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:
● Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
● Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Requirements:
● Lived experience and understanding of anti-Black racism
● Bachelor’s degree, (Marketing, Social Media Management, Communications Public Relations, Community
Engagement or related field)
● 4-6 year’s Social Media management experience (preferable within the non-profit, charitable sector)
● Solid project management expertise and skills
● Strong interpersonal, writing, editing and presenting skills
● Familiarity with CRM tools, Tieit, digital media, social media, graphic design tools
● Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
● Dedicated and hardworking
● French language ability considered an asset
