Liquor Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the daily operations of the 198 BC LIQUOR stores. The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business, creates systems and processes, and establishes daily retail procedures to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB’s core values of service, relationships and results. About this role:

Reporting to the Retail Space Project Manager, the Retail Space Planning Specialist is responsible for ensuring optimum use of space, on a subcategory by subcategory basis, in LDB retail stores. Responsibilities include determining, gathering, and analyzing relevant sales data; inputting and operating space management computer system; communicating analysis to appropriate staff; making decisions regarding use of space; providing computer output which depicts the desired product arrangement; project management for the various store types across the retail stores; develops space plans for new and revised stores’ merchandising projects as well as updates to space plans.

Each position is responsible for assigned specific subcategories and works closely with the Category Managers and Replenishment teams to support the merchandising strategies for the business.

A criminal record check is required.

Candidates must have the ability to do monthly store visits within the Province of British Columbia.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent, related* space planning or merchandising experience working in a large retail environment with hands on experience with retail supply chains including inventory management.
  • Current Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 completed or 1 year experience working in a liquor store or space planning.
  • Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Courses in computer business applications relating to database and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with Retail Space Management software.
