Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant for an established commercial real estate company in Vancouver, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of commercial properties (Shopping Mall, Plaza), and maintain up-to-date tenant information in Yardi;
- Process tenant Move In and Move Out and apply security deposits per lease agreements;
- Review and post receivables, payables and journal entries prepared by a junior property accountant;
- Set up new leases and amendments, and manage tenant ledgers;
- Perform monthly closing process, review and post rent rolls;
- Monitor cash balance and perform monthly owner distributions;
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including Executive Summary, Bank Reconciliations, Amortization Schedules, Revenue and Expenses Accruals, Cash Flow Analysis, GST Reconciliation, Balance Sheet and Income Statement Variance Analysis;
- Set up new properties and carried forward financial balance, if any;
- Prepare annual CAM/property tax reconciliations and reply to tenant inquiries.
- Prepare annual budgets and tenant pre-billing schedules;
- Review financial reports/budgets for other company-owned properties managed by third parties;
- Liaise with property managers and tenants in a timely and professional manner;
- Train new staff and provide support to the accounting group.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of experience in property accounting in commercial real estate, retail shopping centre experience is preferred;
- Completion of an accounting degree and or designation;
- Yardi related experience is required;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, a strong commitment to meet deadlines;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese Mandarin;
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
- Strong analytical problem solving skills;
- Result and detail oriented;
- Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and integrity.
