Job Summary

CN is currently looking for a Project Manager, with the goal of delivering every project on time, within budget and within scope.


As a Project manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of various projects within the Telecom Services team. You will oversee all aspects of projects. You will set deadlines, assign responsibilities, ensures accurate allocation of resources, lead multi-disciplinary teams, and monitor and summarize progress of the project. You will build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. You will also prepare reports for upper management regarding status of the project (e.g., Budget, Scope, Timeline). Strong leadership is essential with the ability simultaneously manage multiple mandates.

Main Responsibilities


  • Develop the project plan, which includes the timeline, budget and resource plans. Resource planning may include acquiring resources and developing the team.
  • Perform risk management planning, identification and analysis to define a risk response plan. Monitor and control on a continuous basis.
  • Execute project plan, monitor project progress against project plan and ensure project remains on scope, on time and on budget while ensuring the completeness and quality of all project deliverables (e.g. business requirements, requirements traceability matrix, etc.)
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Articulate and communicate objectives, requirements, expectations, concepts, issues and progress to the team, senior management and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Prepare monthly project status reports and financial reports, including YEO.
  • Identify key project issues/risks and provide leadership to resolve.
  • Proactively manage change requests (i.e. scope, time and/or budgets change requests).
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle
  • Ensure that the change management plan is developed and executed.
  • Define procurement and solicitation plan, if required, jointly with Supply Management. Participate in solicitation and source selection. Administer contracts.
  • Ensure successful transition of the project deliverables to core support.
  • Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate CN IT standards (eg. Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, SOX, etc.)
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Requirements

Experience

  • 7+ years of IT project management experience with Telecom background
  • Experience with Agile delivery
  • Experience with leading delivery teams with off shore team members
  • Experience working with Service Management, Event Management, Operational Support Systems and IT Tools an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business or a related field
  • SAFe or PMP Certification is an asset

General Skills and Competencies

  • Expert of MS Project, MS Excel & Jira
  • Good understanding of Processes, Tools and Change Management relating to technology evolution and new product introduction
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Skill Set:

  • More than 5-10 years as a PM or 5,000 practical hours as PM.

  • Experience in managing Infrastructure and telecom projects.
  • Strong experience in complex project delivery (new technologies, multi-site deployment, large scale programs/projects).
  • Advanced, if not expert, knowledge of estimation techniques.
  • The ability to strive for consensus towards the target solution while generating value for the company.
  • Ability to generate ideas and solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with several system integration and development methodologies.
  • Expertise in project financial management
  • Project Management Institute (PMP) certification.
  • Cross-functional team leadership and demonstrated experience in personnel management.
  • Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
