Instructor, Pharmacy Technician Program

The School of Health and Human Services invites applications for a part-time instructor in the Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program. This program is CCAPP accredited and delivered using a blend of online theory courses, face-to-face lab classes and practicum in both community and hospital pharmacy environments.

The successful candidate must be a registered pharmacist in the province of BC, currently practicing in an community pharmacy environment. Under the direction and supervision of the School Chair, the successful applicant will teach the face-to-face experiential lab course, Prescription Dispensing (PTEC 221).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to Pharmacy Technician students in lab environments
  • Evaluate students in lab environments
  • Develop and maintains curriculum
  • Effectively collaborates with the school chair, program coordinator and with program colleagues
  • Actively contribute to the college, school and program
  • Maintain positive relationships with the school chair, program colleagues, other members of the College, and members of our communities as a whole
  • Will also meet the major accountabilities as documented in the college instructor job description

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and evaluate students
  • Understanding of scope of practice of pharmacy technicians in Canada
  • Excellent communication skills; classroom management and leadership skills
  • Ability to contribute to School and/or College initiatives and a commitment to continuous learning

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Pharmacy and currently regulated as a Pharmacist in British Columbia
  • Current practice in a community pharmacy environment
  • Works in collaboration with Pharmacy Technicians
  • Three to four years of teaching experience in a post-secondary environment and teaching across the curriculum is an asset

This is a non-regular, part-time (50%) position commencing July 24, 2023 and ending August 14, 2023. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2416.46 to $3,882.99 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.
