Multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in Toronto with is looking for an ophthalmic technician. We are specifically recruiting individuals who are aspiring to career in medicine and are in the process of improving their applications for medical school. This position will provide one with an opportunity to be directly involved in patient care, research, interact with medical trainees at all levels, and to grow both personally and professionally. You will be working 2-5 days a week. There is a potential for this position to become a full time position.
Starting salary for this position is $18-20 hour depending on prior experience.
REQUIREMENTS: you have to be either sometime who has higher education in a different field and is interested in a new long term employment, someone who aspires to pursue a carrier in medicine and have completed your undergraduate education, or a graduate of an ophthalmic assistant/technician program.
You will be an integral part of a team helping us provide state-of-the-art care to our patients of all ages.
RESPONSIBILITIES will include performing all of pre-testing (OCTs, Visual Fields, Automatic Refraction, Lensometry) as well as obtaining detailed/accurate history, measuring visual acuities, performing pupillary testing and administering dilating drops. Prefer someone who either knows or can be trained on performing Goldman applanation tonometry.
Has to be able to work under pressure, see large volumes of patients in a day, be an effective team member.
