OVERVIEW
ROLE PURPOSE
This position is responsible for day-to-day management of worksite trainers and for directing the successful delivery and continued improvement of BCMEA’s waterfront training programs.
SECONDARY PURPOSE
In addition, the Operations Supervisor will provide regular coaching, guidance, and evaluation for trainers to ensure trainees receive fair, consistent, and effective training within specified timelines and budgets.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Project management support for Terminal expansions and installation of new equipment that requires training to workers in advance of going live.
MANAGEMENT RIGHTS REPRESENTATION
Ensures BCMEA management rights are represented.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Responsible for the quality of training programs to ensure that rated workers will be able to productively and safely perform work for our members.
COMPLIANCE
Validates course content ensuring that it is current, relevant and meets regulatory compliance.
ANALYSIS
Arranges and supervises retraining, evaluation and documentation as required.
REQUIREMENTS
MANAGEMENT
Ability to successfully manage personnel and multiple projects on time and on budget. Self-motivated and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others professionally on sensitive issues.
DRIVER'S LICENSE & VEHICLE
Driver’s License and access to own vehicle required.
CRITICAL THINKING
Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
TRANSPORT SECURITY CLEARANCE ELIGIBLE
Transport Security Clearance Eligible.
EDUCATION
University degree in business, engineering, logistics and/or professional development in Health and Safety and 5+ years supervisory experience preferred.
ANALYSIS
Strong analytical aptitude, proven research skills and the ability to assess and interpret data.
RELATED UNION EXPERIENCE
Previous experience delivering on-the-job training, particularly in a unionized environment, is an asset.
COMMUNICATION
Good oral and written communication skills.

INSTRUCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of best practices in adult education, combined with an understanding of instructional methods, assessment, program development and training procedures.
