W.R. Davis Engineering Limited (Davis) is a dynamic mid-sized company specializing in the design of infrared (IR) signature solutions for both naval and aerospace platforms. Davis performs ground-up design, development and manufacture at our Ottawa, Canada facility.

NDT Manufacturing Technician

Title: NDT Manufacturing Technician

Reports to: NDT Level III Supervisor

Pay Range: Based on Experience competitive with industry rates

Job type: Full time & Part Time – Ottawa

Summary

Reporting to the Level III NDT supervisor, the successful applicant will start immediately and work as part of a manufacturing team responsible for ensuring the product meets drawing specifications and customer requirements. The ideal candidates will have their CGSB PT II Certification, and Canadian Welding Bureau certified welding inspector Level I or II. Having CGSB MT II Certification would be an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent team working with the ability to quickly build strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Commitment to quality inspection, data collection and reporting.
  • Ensuring all equipment is set up, calibrated, and functional.
  • Adhering to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Davis Engineering Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Read, write, and speak English fluently.

· Strong technical background in NDT inspection.

· Clearly document non-conformities for effective understanding of the issue and decision-making.

· Knowledge of welding codes.

· Ability to set up NDT equipment, conducts tests, interpret, and evaluate findings in compliance with required specifications, standards and or customer specifications.

· Be capable of following written work instructions from approved general procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residence of Canada
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in NDT inspection.
  • NDT Level II PT certification.
  • Welding Inspector certification.
  • Basic to strong computer skills.
  • Must be able to obtain Controlled Good Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain Reliable Secret Clearance

- And preference given for experience with

  • AWS D17.1 Fusion Welding for Aerospace Application
  • AWS D17.2 Resistance Welding for Aerospace
  • ASME BPVC Section XI Qualification Standard for Welding
  • Inspecting non-ferrous welded joints (stainless steels, nickel alloys, titanium, aluminum)
  • Inspection of weld profile, pattern, layout, quality, and weld size.
