Job Description

Our busy, pediatric clinic is seeking a professional, enthusiastic and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team in Toronto. The Medical Assistant provides primary medical and administrative support to health care providers to deliver optimal, high-quality patient and family-centred pediatric care.

Responsibilities

  • Performs relevant initial physical assessments for patients, take vitals, immunization history, etc.
  • Administers routine immunizations to patients
  • Coordinates follow-up patient care using electronic medical records program (EMR)
  • Provides exceptional patient care in person, over the phone for appointment bookings and during voicemail follow ups
  • Prepares patient rooms for physician visits and replenish with medical supplies
  • Processes outgoing physician referrals
  • Manages supply and storage of vaccines, ensuring compliance with public health unit regulations
  • Maintains a positive attitude and work cohesively with fellow team members to promote trust, respect and cooperation

Qualifications and Skills

  • Recent experience in a pediatric clinic or family care centre preferred
  • Proficiency in MS office applications, e-mail and ability to work with scanning, digital fax and an electronic medical record (EMR) program
  • Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize patient care demands and to set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge of common childhood illnesses and immunization schedules
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Bilingual in Punjabi an asset

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, wear full PPE (provided): N95 mask, medical gown, gloves while facing patients and in common areas. Common surfaces are sanitized regularly, and social distancing is maintained.
