Job Description
Our busy, pediatric clinic is seeking a professional, enthusiastic and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team in Toronto. The Medical Assistant provides primary medical and administrative support to health care providers to deliver optimal, high-quality patient and family-centred pediatric care.
Responsibilities
- Performs relevant initial physical assessments for patients, take vitals, immunization history, etc.
- Administers routine immunizations to patients
- Coordinates follow-up patient care using electronic medical records program (EMR)
- Provides exceptional patient care in person, over the phone for appointment bookings and during voicemail follow ups
- Prepares patient rooms for physician visits and replenish with medical supplies
- Processes outgoing physician referrals
- Manages supply and storage of vaccines, ensuring compliance with public health unit regulations
- Maintains a positive attitude and work cohesively with fellow team members to promote trust, respect and cooperation
Qualifications and Skills
- Recent experience in a pediatric clinic or family care centre preferred
- Proficiency in MS office applications, e-mail and ability to work with scanning, digital fax and an electronic medical record (EMR) program
- Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize patient care demands and to set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
- Knowledge of common childhood illnesses and immunization schedules
- Excellent attendance record
- Bilingual in Punjabi an asset
