Mist Mobility Integrated Systems Technology is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative aerial delivery and recovery systems including the Space Recovery Systems, Sherpa family of GPS guided parafoils, SkyLink parachutist navigation systems and the self-launch capable SnowGoose unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), along with mission planning tools, services, and support equipment. Job Summary:


Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will act as a liaison between Engineering and Production and play a key role in removing interruptions and delays within the Production Process.


They are involved in process development, process validation, process improvements and resolutions of daily production problems. They maintain records of production processes and materials used to ensure efficient and effective production in compliance with company policies and procedures.


The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will investigate problems within the production process, determine the root cause and work with the appropriate disciplines to develop swift and effective resolutions. By overcoming Production-related challenges, the Manufacturing Engineering Technician aids in identifying process deficiencies whether they are related to specifications, instructions or execution. This information, in combination with process time analysis will be used to support Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) activities within MMIST. In addition, they oversee new equipment installation, verification and utilization ensuring equipment operates efficiently and effectively in its intended function.


Responsibilities:

  • Promptly identify root causes of problems and propose solutions with impact assessments and get approval from engineering prior to implementation, where appropriate.
  • Testing new products and carrying out inspections at various stages of production.
  • Participate in the morning stand up meeting to review issues and priorities relative to scheduled deliveries.
  • Develop or update any procedural updates or documentation as required. Capture steps required for manufacturing. Develop, implement and support efficient and effective manufacturing processes and associated systems, controls, and procedures for all new or revised products within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and distribution of work content for effective line balance and labor loading.
  • Conduct Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEA) and design into each process provisions which prevent the potential for manufacturing problems.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to the Process Sign-Off (PSO) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities to ensure each process and associated documentation is ready for full production.
  • Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests for new equipment, tooling or construction as required for new programs or facility upgrades.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of employee suggestions.
  • Supervising employees and providing training as required to ensure efficient performance.
  • Maintaining records on attendance, waste material, production yield, and equipment efficiency
  • Working with internal departments to help design new manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain tool lists, set-up instructions and work instructions.

Skills/Qualifications:

Education:


  • Post-Secondary Education in Mechanical, Process or Electrical Engineering or College diploma in Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering registration preferred.

Experience:


  • 5 years prior Manufacturing Engineering experience or equivalent, preferably acquired in the aerospace industry.
  • 5 years’ experience with PFMEA and Continuous Improvement and Corrective Actions, preferred.
