Status: Hourly, Seasonal, Full-time

Wage: $23-$27/hr (+ shift premium)

**We offer a Retention Bonus of $2.00/hr worked during our cherry season**

Focus

CFP’s Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Our Oliver warehouse provides storage for inventories of packaged product and packaging materials. Safe and seamless production flow and accurate inventory practices are important aspects of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oliver Warehouse:

-Accurate maintenance of shipping and receiving information for packaging inventory, using software programs to log packaging materials into and out of the facility

  • Osoyoos Packing Facility

- Accurate maintenance of shipping and receiving information for packaging inventory and packaged product, using software programs to log packaging materials and product into and out of the facility

  • Safe and responsible operation of pallet jacks, propane and electric forklifts inside and outside of the facilities, to:

- Transport packaging materials and packaged fruit and/or fruit bins and pallets on and off trucks

- Weight and stack fruit bins

- Rotate product to ensure freshness standard are maintained

  • Ensure pre-shift forklift equipment checklists are completed and maintenance arranged where required
  • Report any quality, maintenance, and safety issues to Shipping and Receiving Supervisor
  • Completion of other responsibilities as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training is an asset
  • First Aid training is an asset
  • Previous agriculture and/or packing facility experience is an asset

Working conditions

Work is conducted indoors and outdoors at a fruit packing plant environment and a warehouse environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations common during harvest months (i.e. June through October). This position involves work on evenings and/or weekends, due in part to the timing of month-end inventory responsibilities. Position is typically seasonal, with limited days off and extended hours as necessary during peak months (i.e. June through October).

Physical requirements

  • Frequent sitting, walking, and climbing on and off of forklift
  • Occasional standing
  • Ability to quickly grasp, manipulate, and move levers, foot pedals, and steering wheel knobs
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of up to 25 kilograms (50 pounds)
