Job Description

BCIT’s School of Business + Media is seeking part-time instructors for the Business Fundamentals Program at our Burnaby campus. The successful candidate must have a subject matter expertise in business topics such as essential of marketing ( MKTG 1102), or effective presentation skills ( MKTG 1323), a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in developing and delivering quality in-class curriculum.

This contract includes instructional responsibilities such as: teaching curriculum; preparing and presenting online lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our Business Fundamentals team.

Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Prepare course outlines, prepare teaching materials including short video presentations,
create and share assignments, mark assignments, monitor student progress, facilitate connections between students (including synchronous live classes), and report on student performance including submitting official grades to administration.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration, MA or MBA preferred.
  • TESL/TESOL certificate from a TESL Canada approved institution or equivalent (eg. CELTA/DELTA) highly desirable.
  • Minimum five years of current, relevant, and demonstrated industry success
  • Experience with adult instruction and/or training, with proven track record of online communication.
  • Proficiency with MS suite, ability to connect to online hubs with reliable devices and internet access.
  • Experience with online learning platforms such as D2L, Blackboard, and Moodle. 3-5 years teaching experience required.
  • Documented experience working as an instructor in a post-secondary or industry setting within a team environment is an asset.
  • Ability to excel under pressure and ‘think on your feet’.
  • Professional competence preparing, developing, delivering and administering post-secondary courses.
  • Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and people-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver in class and within an online learning platform. Ability to motivate adult learners to achieve academic success.
  • An established network of relevant professional contacts. Please note: These are the minimum required qualifications.

Salary Range
$68.60 to $102.91 per contact hour, inclusive of vacation and holiday pay.

Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
