Our Team:
Creighton Mine is an underground nickel, copper, and PGE mine located in Lively, Ontario, and is home to over 400 full-time employees, as well as the world-class science facility SNOLAB. Producing at depths of over 8400 feet, we are one of the deepest nickel mines in the world.
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an Industrial Mechanic Planner to join our Maintenance Planning and Control Team at Creighton Mine in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.
As an Industrial Mechanic Planner, you will be accountable for the continuous improvement of the industrial mechanic team's performance, through the effective use of established processes and procedures. You will also be accountable for the scheduling of all planned work for Totten's Industrial Mechanic Departments.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Work Monday to Friday, 8 hours day shift.
- Adhere to maintenance business processes as outlined in Maintenance Planning and Control (MPC) by using approved systems (SAP, Prometheus, etc.), tools, and standards.
- Coordinate and facilitate all required planning/scheduling routines, which include:
- Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of "work schedule" for completion by the Required End Date.
- Execute the "Scheduling" element of the process for all types of work orders - systematic and non-systematic maintenance, including shutdown (PMP), and external resource-related work.
- Execute tasks related to work orders:
- Ensure work orders are planned, scheduled, and ready to be executed prior to the required end date as determined through the notification.
- Manage backlog to ensure work orders are scheduled based on priority and required end date.
- Ensure work order user statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order and that planned work orders are closed with proper time confirmations completed.
- Work with KPIs (actively strive toward plant targets), guidelines, standards, and budget (escalate to management should a budget be exceeded).
- Establish and maintain work relationships with the various key plant stakeholders including superintendents, supervisors, other schedulers, planners, crew members, third-party service providers, etc.
- Work as a relief supervisor (as necessary), which require: working with the crew to develop an interactive workplace environment, holding the crew accountable for safe behavior, housekeeping, teamwork, and professionalism.
About You
Education:
- College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred.
- Valid industrial trade certificate for the province of Ontario is preferred.
- Generic Supervisor Common Core (770141) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working within SAP and the Prometheus add-on as a Planner and Scheduler.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading crews.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the mechanical field or trades.
- Underground experience is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
Skills:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
