Job Summary:
The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) provides primary health care, including chronic disease management, health promotion and disease prevention. Serving 33 First Nations in the area, SLFNHA supports and contributes to a strong health system by providing a variety of essential health services to the people of Northern and remote communities.
The HR Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the HR team currently with a focus on health and safety programs, and wellness and training programs.
Qualifications:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
- Post secondary education in Human Resources or administration, or experience deemed equivalent by SLFNHA.
- 1-2 years’ experience working in an administrative role, focus with Human resources would be preferential but not required.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office products, (Word Excel, Outlook, Word and Power Point) with ability to learn and train others in new computer software.
- Ability to work independently in a very fast paced department.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and build internal and external relationships
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily administrative support to all area’s of the Human Resources Team with particular focus on the Health and Safety/Staff Health, Training/Development, and HRIS programs.
- Provide daily/weekly and monthly program updates, to Program Co-Ordinator’s, Managers and Directors.
- Update, maintain and create HR informational databases, and assign users/tickets in HR ticketing system.
- Assist where required in orientation and education program application.
- Provide support in the HR administration and training in HRIS systems.
- Respond to incoming employee enquiries, represent SLFNHA in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
- Provide departmental coverage for HR Program Co-Ordinator’s.
- Complete and prepare documents, letters, meeting minutes and other correspondence.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare meeting agenda’s, distribution to relevant parties.
- Adhere to confidentiality, follow best practices.
- Participate in all HR projects as required and directed.
- All other duties as assigned.
