Job Description

We are looking for a Human Resources Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks and provide support to the Human Resources Department. The ideal candidate must be proactive, responsive, have excellent communication skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

ContainerWorld located in Richmond, British Columbia is a premier logistics provider for the beverage industry; privately owned company with approximately 550 employees throughout its ten BC facilities. ContainerWorld also operates in Ontario.

We are a state-of-the-art forwarding, warehousing and distribution Company. We have a Warehouse Management System to include voice picking, interleaved put-away/replenishment and license plated inventory with RF scanning. Our automation also includes an ERP, CRM, Truckmate, Sage, Kronos and other applications to prime us for present and future expansions. ContainerWorld actively supports Lean Six Sigma concepts.

Working Days & Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Position Type: 1 year contract position

Position Overview:

Working mainly independently with guidance from Director, Human Resources as required, is responsible for assisting HR and related matters. The position is also responsible for providing management reports and training as required. Is responsible for efficiency and effectiveness of own work and has considerable impact on efficient operations of own area and some other areas/departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources department
  • Respond to employee requests regarding human resources issues
  • Participates in recruitment process to facilitate effective selection and retention
  • Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews
  • Process documentation and prepare reports
  • Provide information and assistance with OH&S (meetings, surveys, etc.)
  • Assists with preparation of Standard of Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Assists with HR initiatives to support organizational development by facilitating implementation of HR practices.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ exposure to HR and best practices
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset.
  • Prior knowledge of OH&S
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Excel
  • Strong aptitude for systems, data management, and internal data auditing
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a very fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and listening
  • Proven track record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines
  • Able to handle challenging situations in a confidential, timely, and diplomatic manner
