As a new member of the machine control systems R&D engineering team, you will help the team develop and implement new user interfaces running on embedded systems with modern development tools. Your creative talent and passion will drive the next generation of Tigercat’s forestry machines look, feel and function in the operator’s cabin. Day shift: 5 x 8 hour shifts; Monday to Friday. Overtime after 40 hours per week!

Responsibilities may include:
  • Spearhead the engineering of the graphical user interface of HMI instrumentation and control displays on Tigercat forestry machines.
  • Draft mock-ups, prototypes, and user flow processes to highlight ideas.
  • Program, simulate and test user interfaces using modern development tools while adhering to sound software development methods.
  • Design modern and efficient animations, elegant screen elements, touchscreen interactions, handle user inputs from physical buttons and dials.
  • Conduct usability testing and surveys to reach high customer satisfaction.
  • Write automated test cases to exercise and validate implementation.
  • Test implementations within emulator, on real hardware and machines.
  • Release high-quality embedded UI applications for a diverse offering of mobile forestry machines.
  • Work closely with engineers, embedded system developers, sales field representatives, dealers, and machine operators to gather requirements, architect, and design full featured user interfaces.
Skills and Experience:
  • 2+ years of proven professional UI development experience.
  • Experience with designing layouts for touchscreen displays and/or mobile apps.
  • Proficient with GUI mock-up tools such as Figma, InVision, Axure, Adobe XD.
  • Skillful with graphics editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proven skills at programming user interfaces using object-oriented methods.
  • Professional Web programming experience using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, etc.
  • No stranger to software life cycles, continuous integration and testing.
  • Experience with formal testing methods and tools for GUI.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Post-secondary education that devoted substantial focus on graphic design, user interfaces and computer science.
  • Demonstration of previous design work and portfolio is required.
  • Personal interest in electronics, and industrial off-road machines is an asset.
