Early Childhood Educator
We are a non-for-profit childcare Centre in the North Town Yonge Community area ( Yonge and
Eglinton) . We provide high quality early learning and care for children from 0 -4 years of age.
UYVDC is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator position.
This position is a full-time position 7.5 hours / day.
Qualifications
▪ ECE registration with College of ECE in good standing
▪ Great interpersonal and relationship building skills with children, parents & co-workers
▪ Team player, great work ethic
▪ Creative, takes initiative, plans ahead
▪ Can handle stressful situations as they arise
▪ First Aid, CPR and current Vulnerable Sector Screening
Description
▪ Knowledge of Early Childhood Development
▪ Knowledge of the ELECT
▪ Knowledge of Assessment for Quality Improvement of Toronto Children Services
▪ Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen Pedagogy
▪ Knowledge of Land Learning Philosophy
▪ Ability to maintains and record daily observations of children in the program
▪ Respects individual abilities and developmental levels of children in the program
▪ Ensures the philosophy and policies of the Centre are upheld and implemented
▪ Liaises with parents on an ongoing basis, regarding progress of child development and areas of concern/conflict
▪ Attends required meetings and trainings
Required:
▪ Must undergo a Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Screen
▪ Updated staff medical Health assesemnt and up to date immunization including Covid
▪ Ability to work full-time in between hours from 7:30 am - 6 :00 pm
▪ Experience working with children in an emergent environment.
▪ A strong work ethics
▪ Excellent command of English (both oral and written); highly developed social skills and the ability to co-operate and follow instructions; ability to deal with conflict; responsive
to family and staff needs; strong problem-solving skills; ability to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program that is consistent with the UYVDC philosophy; and a strong working knowledge of child development and positive behavior guidance strategies.
▪ Follow directives from the management team.
▪ Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Child Care Early
Years Act, Toronto Assessment for Quality Improvement, How Does Learning Happen,
ELECT and the Child and Family Services Act and the ability to meet the specifications of these acts and any other regulations that applies to this work.
▪ The ability to understand the complexities of family life, relate in an exceptional manner with parents and caregivers and most importantly, always keep children a top priority and strive to constantly improve. Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, sit on the floor.
▪ Must have computer skills including using email software and Microsoft office and Excel
Software.
Room assignments and shifts are subject to change in accordance with the operational needs of
the daycare.
Hours: Mon- Friday; between 7:30 am- 6 pm –/shift rotations
Salary: To be determined based on the experience
