Job Summary
The Collector will have the primary responsibility of contacting customers on account payments and work with team members to resolve discrepancies; this may, at times, involve some clerical assignments. The successful candidate will work to manage collection of accounts receivable and account reconciliation, and will review and resolve payment discrepancies as necessary.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients using all forms of contact
- Manage all levels of client relations matters specific to collections, including general inquiries and overall credit management
- With the use of various software, manage customer database and monitor all account activities, including investigating payment discrepancies
- Enforce prompt action on overdue accounts and engage in appropriate means of collection activities
- Process client payments using various POS systems and coordinate payment information updates and customer account changes as assigned
- Maintain and update filing and database systems
Job Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience working in a Collections role
- Proficient with the use of a computer, including Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to be assertive and manage escalated customer interactions, as necessary
- Ability to work with and manage confidential information and use independent judgment
Preferred
- Completion of post-secondary studies in related field
- Pursuit of a CCP designation will be considered beneficial
- Experience working within the transportation industry and with Great Plains and TMW software
- Previous experience in supply chainlogistics environment would be considered an asset
