PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Carpenter Apprentice & Journeyperson will be responsible for effectively delivering the civil portion of the project to ensure Aecon Construction
Solutions Inc. achieves their general and specific project requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading blueprints
- Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions)
- Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts
- Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
- Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location
- General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned
- Journeyperson will mentor apprentices
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Certified Journeyperson Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
- The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity
- Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds
- The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
- The ability to get along well with others on a work team
- Must be willing to work in remote job locations
- Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site

- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Continuously changing work tasks
- Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $22.86-$39.90 per hour
