Accountant
On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Accountant for a 5 months contract in Calgary Alberta.
Accountant Job Details
- This position is responsible for full cycle accounting outsourcing services to the Future of Finance team’s clients, including preparation of journal entries, preparation of month-end workbooks, preparation of monthly financial reports, preparation of year-end workbooks, preparation of financial statements (in IFRS, US GAAP or ASPE), liaising with external auditors, GST filings, and other items as required
Accountant Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing daily and monthly accounting tasks including:
- Using technology (including but not limited to PowerBI, Alteryx, Tableau), import/capture transactional activity (e.g. from bank statements
- preparing month-end workbooks and related journal entries, including accruals, revenue recognition, etc.
- preparing bank reconciliations
- preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (e.g. IFRS)
- performing other corporate accounting cycle functions as needed
- oversee junior team members and review their work
- Acting in a senior accountant capacity and leading and overseeing a team of junior team members
- An interest in using technology to automate/assist with the above tasks as part of the Outsourced Accounting team.
Accountant Mandatory Skills
- 3-4 years of experience working with an accounting team
- Previous experience working in a professional services firm would be an asset
- Experience in using technology to streamline accounting and finance function processes is desirable
- Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills with the ability to use intermediate to advanced formulas to analyze and summarize data is required
- Proficiency with the full set of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite is an asse
- Experience with Alteryx, Power BI or other data manipulation software is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is an asset
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Strong documentation skills to support clear working papers
- Work effectively in a virtual team environment
- Self-starter with the ability to adapt and add value in a fast paced environment and who owns a task seeing it through to completion even amidst uncertainties
- Effectively multitask and prioritize workload across multiple projects and with different stakeholders
- Clearly communicate (written and verbal) findings, options, and recommendations, and risks
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy with attention to detail
- An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work;
- Experience in using technology to streamline accounting and finance function processes is desirable
