The Opportunity
The Billing Accountant is responsible for supporting US operations and offices in their billing efforts. This individual plays a critical role supporting our clients, ensuring we are invoicing accurately and timely. The role is highly visible, interfacing both internally and externally to interpret contracts, confirm invoice details and follow-up on invoice payment. The ideal candidate is a positive, polished and articulate professional who possess a high level of attention to detail.
What You'll Do
- Assist Finance management in developing monthly revenue forecasts.
- Review of Letters of Proposal (LOPs) to ensure assignments are properly reflected in financial systems.
- Meet monthly with consultants to review current assignments. Assist consultants in determining which items to bill and conduct rigorous procedures to ensure pledged bills materialize.
- Comprehensive follow-up of action items, such as dispatch of Invoice Proposals, receivables, disbursements, queries etc.
- Check invoices thoroughly before sending to consultants and clients.
- Prepare, process and submit standard and electronic bills, ensuring fees and disbursements are accurately charged and allocated.
- Provide detailed financial information, i.e. disbursement breakdowns, as requested.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with external and internal clients as appropriate to ensure timely collection.
- Respond to telephone enquiries from external and internal clients.
- Provide technical support to Consultants and Executive Assistants.
- Assist other finance members when additional coverage is required, as requested.
- Perform ad hoc projects as they arise.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 5 years' experience serving in a finance function, ideally within a professional services firm.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Netsuite and Concur ideal.
- Organized multi-tasker: able to manage multiple projects with set deadlines as time management, pattern recognition, prioritization, diligent attention to detail and judgment are critical in this role.
- Resourceful problem solver: ability to work in ambiguous environments and comfortable with the unknown, as well as work well under pressure, solve problems.
- Self-starter: highly motivated, excellent work ethic and self-assured, not easily thrown, able to think on your feet.
- Strong communicator: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to interact professionally with executive stakeholders and colleagues alike.
- Natural collaborator: desire to help foster and preserve a company culture where all are welcome, included, and given the opportunity to succeed. Collaborative team player, with a track record of maximizing the team as well as individual performance.
